Councilman <br />Weiss moved approval of the recommendation and the City Attorney to be authorized to draw up the necessary <br />resolution, seconded by Councilman Herknere Councilman Britschgi asked the Police Chief about the <br />possibility of establishing a 15 or 20 minute parking area for people who will need just a short time <br />in the building. Police Chief Faulstich stated that he would go along with this for a few spaces in <br />the front of the building. The Committee could study this. Mrs Faulstich stated that this resolution <br />would be effective shortly before'the building is open. The motion carried. <br />Councilman Granger wanted to know if it would be possible to have a study made in regard to a suitable <br />section being set aside for jurists. Chief Faulstich questioned who would keep this under control. <br />Councilman Granger was of the opinion that it should be handled by the County* <br />Councilman Granger had a resolution he wished to present to the Council and he asked the Clerk to read same* <br />SUBJECT: VETERANS HOME AND FARM PROGRAM BOND ACT 1956 <br />WHEREAS, the State of California initiated in 1921 a Veterans Home and farm program to provide returned <br />California service men and women with homes and farms on a long term, low interest basis; and <br />WHEREAS, in the past 35 years the State has loaned its credit in the sum of $625,000,000 to enable, <br />90,000 veterans to finance homes and farms on a small payment low cost plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the interest cost to veterans has been reduced to and is being maintained at 3%; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Veteran Affairs has so administered this program that all payments due on <br />these bond issures and all costs of administration have been paid without the use of one cent of <br />tax money while creating a substantial reserve and giving California veterans the opportunity to <br />acquire homes and farms under the most favorable terms available arrjwhere or anyhow; and <br />WHEREAS, funds heretofore approved by the people have been depleted by loans made and outstandings <br />NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redwood City, in meeting assembled <br />this 6th day of August 1956, does hereby endorse Proposition Noe 1 on the November ballot which pro- <br />vides $500,000,000 of veterans bonds for the continuance of the California Veterans Home and Farm <br />program. <br />Councilman Granger offered the above RESOLUTION 2081 AND MOVED ITS ADOPTION, SECONDED by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried on roll call, <br />Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />Mayor Royer called attention to the study meeting on August 8th with regard to sales tax study and Department <br />Head salaries. There will also be a study meeting on August 15th on subdivision fees. <br />Councilman Granger wanted to know what happened to the resolution with regard to flying the flag at the <br />9 <br />
