TEHANY and moved <br />its adoption, s ecorjd6d by Councilman Granger. Councilman Weiss asked what the further study was. <br />City Attorney Costello stated that this was discussed by himself and the Planning Advisor and they <br />found it was in the best interest of the City to grant this variance. The motion carried on roll call <br />with Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />INTRODUCTION OF AMENDMENT TO SALARY ORDINANCE TO INCREASE SALARY RANGE FOR LEADINGMEN. The Attorney read <br />the ordinance. Councilman Spillers introduced ORDINANCE 830 AMENDING SECTION NO. 2 OF, AND ADDING <br />CERTAIN NEW SECTIONS T0, ORDINANCE NO. 824 TO INCREASE THE SALARY FOR THE POSITIONS OF PARK, SEWER, <br />STREET AND WATER LEADINGMEN and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll <br />call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION 2109 CRANTING VARIANCE TO J. URRERE TO ALLOW TWO CAR GARAGE AT REAR OF RESIDENCE (20 HILLTOP <br />DRIVE) was introduced by Councilman Spillers who moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout <br />and carried on roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION 2110 GRANTING VARIANCE. TO M. TESOLINI TO ALLOW TEN FOOT REAR YARD INSTEAD OF FIFTEEN FEET <br />I <br />(ALDEN AND ALLERTON) was offered by Councilman Weiss who moved its adoption; seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried an roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />UNITED BAY AREA CRUSADE REGARDING PAYROLL DIDUCTION PLAN FOR CITY EMPLOYEE <br />TO <br />THE FUND.. The Clerk read the letter. Councilman Spillers moved tosefer this to the Redwood City <br />Employees' Association for their recommendation and if they have 20% or more employees signing up <br />for the deduction then the Council will go for the payroll deduction plan. Sign—up must be voluntary. <br />This motion was seconded by Councilman Weiss. Mr. Goggin asked the Council what they would do if <br />19% of the employees signed up. The Mayor stated that if the signup was that close they would <br />still consider the payrolldeduction. The 20% figure was used for bookkeepting purposes only. The <br />motion carried. <br />NICATION FROM DALE STUART REGARDING ZONING OF LOT 7, BLOCK G, WOODSIDE ACRES. The Clerkread the <br />letter of written protest wherein Mr. Stuart asked that this property be zoned so his apartment would <br />be of conforming use. He would appreciate the Council considering his position in the development, <br />of this property, which consists of approximately 38,00 square feet. Councila;an Granger moved that <br />this communication be filed, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers stated that he feels that it is only fair to tell Mr. Stuart what procedure he <br />can follow. The Mayor stated that next week the ordinance will be introduced and Mr. Stuart can be <br />heard'at that time. <br />The Mayor announced that a study meeting will be held on Wednesday with regard to the rail at Bair Island <br />property and also the Department Head salaries. The meeting with the Emerald Lake people with regard <br />to water services will be postponed. On October 3rd the Council is to meet at the•Eagles Hall to <br />meet the 49ers. The Mayor asked the Clerk to notify, the people in the Emerald Lake area that the <br />meeting will be on October 4th. <br />Mayor Royer announced that Councilman Granger was elected to the position of Vice President for the <br />Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities. <br />Councilman Spillers announced that he;was going to hold the committee meeting on the Oaklay Tract on <br />September 27th at 4 P. M. <br />Councilman Spillers spoke on the matter of the swag coming from the cities north of Redwood City. <br />Councilman Herkner stated that there is a committee working on this and they have had several meetings <br />already and they are going along as fast a8: they can. <br />9 1 <br />
