There wasn't any second to Councilman Granger's <br />motion, so the substitute motion lost. The original motion to deny the permit carried. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS THAT A STOP SIGN BE INSTALLED ON INDUSTRIAL WAY AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH <br />WHIPPLE AVENUE. The City Attorney stated that he had the resolution. Councilman Spillers offered <br />RESOLUTION 2122 AUTHORIZING STOP SIGNS TO BE ERECTED ON INDUSTRIAL WAY AT EACH OF ITS ENTRANCES TO <br />WHIPPLE.AVENUE and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss. Councilman Stout spoke on the <br />question. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />Councilman Granger asked about lights at the intersection of Whipple Avenue and Industrial Way, <br />Councilman Granger moved that this be checked into. City Engineer Jain stated that he was checking <br />into this matter. Councilman Granger changed his motion that the City Engineer check with the P. G. & <br />It <br />E. and get the light put in, seconded by Councilman -Stout and carried. Councilman Weiss stated that <br />he had been notified that there were rough spots in the street. City Engineer Jain stated that they <br />were aware of this and explained the situation to the Council. <br />City Engineer Jain asked that he be granted permission to install lights at all the intersections <br />with Industrial Way. Councilman Spillers so moved, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />RESOLUTION 1223 ADOPTING BUDGET AND APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX ALLOCATION <br />FOR MAJOR CITY STREETS w9s offered by Councilman Granger who moved its adoption. This was seconded by <br />Councilman.Spillers. Councilman Weiss asked what the contents of the budget contained. It was explained <br />to Councilman Weiss that this was regular procedure and a copy of the budget was passed down to him <br />for inspection.. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />L. E. WERDER REFERENCE TO LOT 17, JOHNSON'S SUBDIVISION, CONSISTING OF MORE THAN 4 ACRES, PROPOSE ANNEXATION <br />WITH A PERMIT OR ZONING CONFORMING WITH THE COUNTY'S ACTION. The Clerk read the letter. A•repre— <br />sentative from Mr. Werder's office asked that they try to push this through because they only have until <br />October 31st to sign the lease. He was told.that this must be referred to the Planning Commission <br />before.the Council could take any action. The City Attorney recommended that they get the Planning <br />Commission's intention before the Council states their intention of the zoning.. Councilman Spillers <br />moved that the Council looks in favor of the annexation subject to approval of the -Engineering <br />.Department, Fire, Police, Legal and Water Departments and .subject to annexation fees, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger. City Engineer Jain spoke for the Engineering Department and the Water Department and <br />-stated that they could give them sewer connection but that they could not give the proper water <br />pressure they would require. They will have to install their own water pumps, similar to those <br />installed by the Sequoia Hospital. The City Attornye stated that he did not believe it out of order <br />for the Council to state that they will look in favor of the zoning when and if it comes before the <br />Council. The motion carried. <br />CITY ENGINEER RECOMMENDS ACCEPTANCE OF HIGHLANDS TERRITORY NO. 4 SEWERS. The City Engineer recommended that <br />Highlands Territory No. 4 Sewers be accepted subject to correction of any defects in materials and <br />workmanship which might appear within one year.from date of acceptance, and subject to correction of <br />any work required by the City Council after the public hearing on this project. Councilman Stout moved <br />approval of the City Engineer's recommendation, seconded by -Councilman Herkner and carried. - <br />CITY ENGINEER RECOMMENDS ACCEPTANCE OF BEECH STREET IMPROVEMENTS ( EL CAPI<NO REAL TO MAIN STREET) subject to <br />correction of any defects in material and workmanship which might appear within one year from date of <br />acceptance. Councilman Herkner moved approval of the City Engineer's recommendation, seconded by <br />Councilman spillers, City Engineer Jain stated that he wanted the City Attorney to take whatever steps <br />are necessary to return the questioned the amount of the refund and the breakdovvn of figures.
