40 <br />Superintendent to proced in the manner stated by Mr. Lebsack, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />PETITION FROM THE RESIDENTS ON POPLAR AVENUE FROM HUDSON STREET TO WOODSIDE ROAD REQUEST SPEED LIMIT CF 20 <br />MPH, The Traffic Committee recommened enforcement at 25 mph rather than setting up a sign limiting <br />the speed to 20 mph. Mr. Bernard Radding, 411 Poplar Avenue, spoke on the subject and stated that <br />the people wanted signs put up and also enforcement. Chief Faulstich stated that he could erect a <br />sign for 25 mph. Councilman Herkner moved that the Street Department erect the sign and the Police <br />Department to enforce the law, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />ARIS C. PARTIDOS REGARDING BERTH SPACE AT THE REDWOOD CITY YACHT HARBOR. The Clerk read the letter to <br />which was attached deposit check. Mr. Partidos spoke beforethe Council and asked that he be allowed <br />to get a berth in the harbor and asked that his name be placed on a waiting list. This was followed <br />by discussion. Councilman Britschgi moved that this letter be referred to the proper authorities <br />and to refund the check, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion in regard <br />to the availability of a list. Mr. Morton stated that they now have a log book and are in the process <br />of making up a list of residents and also a list of non-residents. This was followed by further <br />discussion after which the motion carried. <br />MRS. ROBERT HARKER REQUEST PERMISSION OF SENIOR GIRL SCOUTS IN THE SEQUOIA AREA COUNCIL FOR USE OF REDWOOD <br />CITY HARBOR FACILITIES. The Clerk read the letter. Mr. Morton stated that in the past it has <br />been the policy that this be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission for their recommendation. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that this be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission, seconded by <br />4 Councilman Spillers who asked that everything possible be done to help the Girl Scoutbi, This was <br />followed by discussion after which the motion carried. <br />The City Manager stated that he received a letter from the State in regard to state aid and he adked <br />that he be allowed to refer this letter to the Yacht Harbor Committee. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED. APPROVAL APPLICATION A. E. RUKAN TO REZONE LOTS 12, 13 and 14, BLOCK 15, <br />LENOLT, FROM R-1 to C -1 -H -F District (700 block of Whipple Avenue at Industrial Way). Councilman <br />Granger moved that this be set for public hearing for one week, seconded by 'Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENED APPROVAL REAR VARIANCE FROM 15+ REQUIRED TO 51 WITH CONCURRENCE OF FIRE <br />CHIEF LODI SINCE INTERIOR SIDE YARD LEAVES AMPLE SPACE TO SATISFY INSURANCE UNDERWRITER'S REQUIREMENTS <br />(PORTION BLOCK 17, EASTERN ADDITION, R-3 DISTRICT) 1000 Block Hilton Street. Councilman Britschgi <br />offered RESOLUTION 2144 GRANTING THE ABOVE VARIANCE TO M. DAVINI AND M. BEAN and moved its adoption, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call, Councilman Stout being notedabsent. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS DENY CITY'S REQUEST TO REMOVE TREES ON EL CAMINO REAL. The Clerk read the letter <br />wherein it was stated why the request was denied. It is contrary to the State-wide policy regarding <br />tree removals. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that this should be carried on the agenda and <br />one of these days someone should talk to someone in Sacramento to see if they could do something. <br />Councilman Granger moved to carry this on the agenda for not more than 60 days, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried. <br />DOUGLASS & WOODHOUSE REQUEST EXTENSION OF TIME LAUREL-MANZANITA-HILTON IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. The City <br />Engineer was not present when this item came up so Councilman Spiller moved to carry this on the <br />agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />FINAL ACCEPTANCE INDUSTRIAL WAY. The City Engineer recommended acceptance of improvements subject to <br />correction of any defects in materials and workmanship which may appear within one year from date of <br />acceptance by the City Council. Councilman Herkner moved approval of the City Engineer's recommendation, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />
