presents them at one time. <br />•NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF COLORED PEOPLE REQUEST PERMISSION TO SELL CHRISTMAS SEALS on <br />Broadway on Saturday, December 8th, between the hours of 10:00 A. M. and 4:00 P. M.. The Clerk read <br />the letter. The Mayor asked that this be checked with the Chamber of Commerce to see if they come <br />under the United Crusade, The City Attorney stated that they met on this and it was of the opinion <br />of those who attended the meeting that this should be turned over to the Chamber of Commerde for their <br />recommendation. This.was followed by discussion. Councilman Spillers moved tozefer this to the <br />Chamber of Commerce and request information, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. This was followed by <br />further discussion as to what connection the Chamber -of Commerce had with the request. Councilman <br />Herkner amended the motion that the permit be granted, seconded by Councilman Weiss. Councilman <br />Granger amended the amendment that they be subject to all the rules and regulations required by the <br />C <br />City. This was included in the amendment. The motion carried on roll call, Councilman Stout being <br />noted absent. <br />CITE OF SAN CARLOS REGARDING RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT ACT. 0ouncilman-Weiss suggested that this be turned over <br />to the City Attorney, he, Councilman Weiss, the City Manager and the City Attorney to make a Committee <br />report. Councilman Weiss moved that this be turned over to the City Manager and City Attorney for a <br />report from the committee, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />COUNTY OF SAN MATEO REGARDING PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT PROCEEDINGS, BAY ROAD IMPROVEMENTS. The Clerk read the <br />letter. Councilman Weiss suggested that they have a report from the City Engineer. The City Engineer <br />reported that Mr. Doolittle was given a permit about 1 year ago to temporarily pave the street and at that <br />time Mr. Doolittle stated that he would circulate a petition for permanent paving. Mr. Doolittle has <br />circulated said petition and the property owners want the street paved. There is only 10+ of the street <br />inside the City Limits, the majority of the street being in the County. The City Engineer redommended <br />that the City go -along with the request of the County and allow them to take jurisdiction of the c <br />situation. This job will be a continuation of the Bay Road improvements. The City Attorney asked that <br />they go onto the ext item of business and allow him time to finish reading and checking the proposed <br />resolution by the County. <br />Councilman Granger stated that he had a letter from the Disaster Relief Office and asked that the Clerk read <br />this letter. The regional staff of the California Disaster Relief will conduct the survey requested by <br />the City during the first week of January 1957. Councilman Granger moved that the City Clerk be <br />authorized to reply to the letter and set the date as soon as possible, seconded by Councilman Britschgi <br />and c arried. <br />The City Attorney stated that the resolution prepared by the County for improvement of Bay Road was in order <br />and he recommended approval of the resolution. Councilman Herkner offered RESOLUTION 2152 GRANTING <br />CONSENT TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO CONSTRUCT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND TO <br />PROVIDE THAT THE COSTS THEREOF SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON A SPECIAL DISTRICT PURSUANT TO SPECIAL ASSESSMENT I <br />AND ASSESSMENT BOND ACTS BAY ROAD and moved its adopti>n, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on <br />roll call, Councilman Stout being noted absent. I' <br />The Mayor announced that Wednesday evening at 8 P.M. will be the time set for a study meeting to discuss <br />Parking Lot VI. <br />i <br />Thursday, December 6th, at 4P. M. is the t me set for a study meeting to meet with the Junior Chamber <br />of Commerce in regard to Spruce Street. <br />Tuesday, December 11th, at 4 P. M. is the time set for a study meeting to meet with the Public Utilities <br />6comm:i.ssion and Southern Pacific Co. representatives. <br />Councilman Granger mored that the City Manager be authorized to stagger the working hours of the employees <br />
