Councilman Spillers moved to uphold the Planning Commission's recommendation to deny the permit, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION TURF AND INSTALL SPRINKLERS, CIRCLE PARK ADJACENT TO SEQUOIA HOSPITAL, 1957-58 BUDGET. The Commission requested the Council to give consideration to the turfing and installation of a sprinkler system in Circle Park, adjacent to Sequoia Hospital on Whipple Avenue. The estimated cost of this project is $13835.00. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Spillers moved to refer this to the City Manager for costs, etc. to take up at the budget study meetings for 1957-581, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. PARK 1ND RECREATION COI1MISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING ACQUISTION OF LANDS FOR RECREATION PURPOSES. The Clerk read the letter wherein the Commission stated their wishes in regard to acquistion of land for recreation purposes. They asked the Council to consider the acquistion of a ten to fifteen acre site in the hills 01 behind Redwood City for future park and recreation use. Councilman Weiss moved to have the Mayor set a study meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission and the members of the Council to discuss this matters seconded by Councilman Stout. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that this should be referred to the Land Use Committee for a report in regard to the Itaster Plan. The motion carried. The Mayor.called attention to the study meetings. It was decided to change Tuesdays meeting from 7:30 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. to take up the Personnel Board recommendation and the truck ordinance. USE PERMITS GRANTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION: . 1. Auto Repair Shop, Hancock and Willow, C -2-F District. 2. John McCarthy for contractor's yard Bayshore between 5th and Haven. C -1-H District. 3. John Shaw for Apt. Motel at 122-110-118 Harrison subject to conditions. 4- Woodside Road Methodist Church, addition to building subject to conditions. No Council action was necessary. , Councilman Stout stated th-.t he had a report that he would like the Clerk to prepare and mail to the Council and the Police Building Committee. The Committee can decide if they want a study meeting. Councilman Herkner stated that this was Councilman Britschgi?s last Council meeting. He wished the best of luck to Assemblyman Britschgi in his new job and expressed his sorrow at the loss of Councilman Britschgi as a member of the Council. Councilman Herkner offered RESOLUTION 2159 COMMENDING COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI FOR HIS EFFORTS FOR THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY and moved its adoption, this resolution to be spread upon the minutes as testimonial for his work, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on xoll call, Councilman Britschgi not voting. RES O.LUTION NO. 2159 WHEREAS, Carl A. Britschgi has well and faithfully served the people and the Council of the City of Redwood City in the Office of City Councilman for a period of sixteen years; and, YIHEREAS, Carl A. Britschgi did fulfill the obligations and perform the duties in connection with the Office of Councilman of the City of Redwood City in an outstanding, skillful and efficient manner and did continually and faithfully serve and protect the best interests of the people of the City of Redwood City in a manner in keeping with the best traditions of public service; and, WHEREAS., it is the intention and desire of this Council to acknowledge the services rendered to the City of Redwood City by Carl A. Britschgi, and to extend to him the sincere best wishes.of the Council and the people of the City of Redwood City;
