64 F. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the Council appoint a committee to meet with the Board of Supervisors in <br />the best interest of the City, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />USE PERMITS ISSUED AND DENIED BY THE PLANNING COidMISSION: <br />1. Denied application of Associated Oil Company for permit to erect two billboard signs at service <br />station, Middlefield Road and Bayshore. <br />2. To allow Max Livchitz restaurant and cocktail lounge (2610 El Camino Real) R-3 and I1-4 Districts, <br />subject to observance of proposed official' plan lines for Carlos Avenue extension, and subject <br />to Planning Advisor's approval of parking layout. <br />3. To allow J. Petrancosta a single family residence in a "U'+ District. Lots 5 and 61 Block 28, <br />Oak Knoll Manor (Canyon Road near Oak Knoll Drive). <br />C. W. Shawback for Use Permit to allow extension of nonconforming use by <br />4. Denied application of <br />adding additional apartment unit, Lot 9, Block 1, Robinson Addition (130 Harrison Avenue). <br />THE REDWOOD CITY JUNIOR CHAMBER OF CM MERCE REQUESTED PERMISSION OF THE COUNCIL TO WAIVE THE BUSINESS <br />LICENSE WHICH IS REQUESTED BY ORDINANCE. The Jr. Chamber is sponsoring the Kaye Brothers Circus, <br />the proceeds to go toward youth activities Projects. Councilman Stout moved permission be granted <br />subject to the proper insurance, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Granger alerted the <br />Council to watch for any further attempt of groups asking for free licenses. This was followed by <br />discussion about these people asking for donations. Mr. Graff spoke on the subject and he was of the <br />opinion that the Council should sent notices to all groups asking them to get police approval before <br />asking for s licitations in order to protect themselves. Motion carried. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND SUCGE$TIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br />Councilman Jones stated that he was of the opinion that the Police Chief wanted permission to submit the. <br />temporary police building pians for publicity. Councilman Jones moved approval of the plans for <br />publicity purposes, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers brought up the matter of Spring Street, and he stated that the Street Department is <br />soing a good job in fixing up the street. <br />Councilman Granger asked the City Manager f or a report in regard to the Tree Planting on El Camino Real. <br />This should be made available so that it might be presented to the Park and Recreation Commission. City <br />Manager Rolison reported that an appointment has been made to meet with Mr. Evans at 10:00 Wednesday, <br />February 1st. <br />Councilman Granger spoke in regard to the cost of microfilm and asked that this be placed on the agenda for <br />a report to the Counci1 in two weeks. <br />Councilman Royer stated that this was the last night for Council action for matters to be placed on the <br />April ballot. He moved that the matter of a request for $25.00 per meeting for the Council members, <br />the members to be paid only if present, be submitted to the people for the April election, seconded <br />by Councilman Stout. This was followed by discussion and found that this did not have to be passed <br />tonight. Councilman Royer then withdrew his motion on the basis that the Council could make a further <br />study before taking official action. <br />Councilman Stout wanted to know if the City has taken any steps to prevent the erection of any more bill- <br />boards on Bayshore Highway. Councilman Royer stated ;that the new sign ordinance when adopted would <br />take care of this matter. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adjournment, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried.
