Engineer Moen reported that the low bid was Power -Mullin Construction <br />Inc., however, there was a correction to be made on the bid of 50¢ ($13,946.50). <br />CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING ON ADAMS STREET CULVERT. The public hearing was reopened. W. P. Parkhill, 1160 <br />Adams Street, and Mrs. Frieda Mundy 1156 Adams Street, spoke in favor of the bridge being fixed. This was <br />followed by discussion after which Councilman Royer moved to continue the public hearing for one week, seconded <br />.by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />Councilman Royer moved introduction of an ordinance accepting the requirements of Section 13522 of the Penal Code , <br />—relating to training of law enforcement officers, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />REQUEST PERMISSION TO HIRE SECRETARY TO CITY MANAGER AT THE SECOND STEP. The.Personnel Board recommended that the <br />Manager be authorized to appoint a secretary at the second step. Councilman Royer moved to authorize the City <br />Manager to hire a secretary at the second step, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. (MINUTE ORDER ' <br />#60-186) <br />Councilman Royer moved adoption of RESOLUTION. NO, 3189 AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING FOR THE DEFENSE OF PROPERTY DAM- <br />AGE SUIT RESULTING FROM STREET IMPROVEMENT PROCEEDINGS; AND, APPROPRIATING $800 IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Royer asked if the fee would be paid in the event the matter <br />could be negotiated prior to the court action. Attorney Lebsack assured the Council he would not present <br />a bill if the fm tter is settled by negotiatddn. The motion carried unanimously on roll call, Councilmen <br />Fields and Granger being noted absent. <br />
