C <br />J <br />J <br />ll <br />REQUEST OF FILO CORPDRATION FOR FURTHER EXTENSION OF CONTRACT TO IMPROVE ALLEY AT REAR OF 1321-37 29 <br />JEFFERSON AVENUE. The City Engineer recommended the extension be granted. Written approval of the <br />bonding company has been received. Councilman Royer moved to grant the extension as requested to <br />June 30, 19619 (MINUTE ORDER #60-206), seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />•Item 12 was eliminated from the agenda '(resolution approveing agreement between PG&E and -City of Redwood <br />City to permit dumping of spoils on PGgE easement in connection with the construction of the Redwood <br />City Marina and authorizing execution thereof). <br />Councilman Fields moved to authorize the City Clerk to accept a grant deed from Robert Be and Lucy Jane <br />Owens, easement in Industrial Way (MINUTE ORDER #60-207), seconded' by' Councilman Stable and carried. <br />Councilman Royer moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO, 3226 AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT FOR ACQUISITION OF PERMIT <br />FROM PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR SPOILS DISPOSAL AREA; AND, REPEALING RESOLUTION N0. 31116, <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried unanimously on roll call, Councilman Granger being neted <br />absent. <br />" COMMUNICATIONS: <br />D. W. Townsend submitted his letter of resignation from the Personnel Board. .He recently moved to <br />'Millbrae. Councilman Royer moved that a letter of acceptance of his resignation and an expression <br />of thanks for his service to the City be sent (MINUTE ORDER #60-208), seconded by Councilman Herkner <br />and carried. <br />County of San Mateo notified the Council of a meeting called for October 17, 1960, at 10:00 a. m., <br />in the Chambers of the Board of Supervisors, at the Hall of Justice and Records, Redwood City, Calif- <br />ornia, for the purpose of appointing a member of the' Board' of Directors' of the Bay Area Rapid Transit <br />District for a full term of four years commencing October 28, 1960, at which time the term of office <br />of the incumbent of Burlingame, Ca'l:i.fornia, will expire. The appointee of the Committee is required <br />by law to be a resident and registered voter of the County of San Mateo. A majority of the members <br />of the City Selection Committee shaii constitute a quorum. <br />Bulletin from the Association of Bay Area Governments* Councilman Royer moved that the Council re- <br />consider this matter when they have a full council, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Johanson, 272 Nevada Street, Redwood City, as residents and property owners of <br />Redwood City, and also owners OT a lot (without water) in the Emerald Lake Area, wished to go on record <br />as strenuously protesting the expenditures of any monies by the City of Redwood City for the improve- <br />ment of existing Emerald Lake water facilities, unless water is simultaneously made available to the <br />owners of unimproved as well as improved property in that atea. Councilman Herkner asked' that the City <br />Manager contact these people to see what they ]Wean and try to explain the matter to them. <br />Mayor Weymouth reported on a meeting with other City Mayors with regard to a County -wide sales tax. He re - <br />ported that it was the consensus of the other Cities that a letter be submited to the County Board of <br />Supervisors asking them to envoke the Bradley -Burns Act, the Cities to contribute 5% to the County. <br />Mayor Weymouth asked permission to s ign such a request. Councilman Rosselli was of the opinion that <br />because of the present ordinance on the books and the negative vote of the people that the City of <br />Redwood City should not sign such a letter. Councilman Royer moved that this be continued to next <br />Monday night, October 17th., seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Royer moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried.
