MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />3. Proposed establishment Select Committee on Youth Needs <br />and Services (continued from 1/18/88) <br />In response to question about participation of youth from parochial schools, <br />City Attorney Schricker said the Council cannot designate an organization <br />sponsored by a religious group, but there is no reason such students could <br />not participate in any City program <br />M /S: Chandler /LaBerge to direct staff to prepare the necessary resolution <br />for establishment of a Youth Needs and Services Committee. <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER N0. 88 -15 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />4. Bond Election <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determinted it to be the consensus of Council to <br />establish a Council committee of Councilmen Greenalch, LaBerge and Britschgi <br />to take a look at the bond issue measure, determined which projects might be <br />placed on the ballot on June 7, 1988 and make a recommendation to Council, <br />recognizing that considerable staff and Council time has already been devoted <br />to the subject last year and those records would be consulted. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 88 -16 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />5. Housing and Human Concerns Committee recommendation <br />that a housing and human concerns commission be <br />established (302 -10) <br />Councilman Greenalch, member of the Housing and Human Concerns Committee <br />(HHCC), presented the subject report. <br />Diane Howard, member of HHCC and of the Park & Recreation Commission, said <br />that she believes an 11- member commission is desirable, acknowledging that <br />most City commissions have seven members. <br />M /S: Britschgi / Greenalch to direct the City Attorney to prepare the <br />necessary ordinance to establish a housing and human concerns commission. <br />CLARIFICATION: City Attorney Schricker said that it is his understanding of <br />the motion that he is to work with the HHCC in preparing the ordinance to <br />establish a commission. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER N0. 88 -17 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />2/1/88 <br />Page 4 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 47 <br />Page No. 484 <br />
