2. Presentation by Women's AYSO team - request for <br />financial support for team trip to Europe <br />Rick Gutierrez, Team Coach, Women's AYSO soccer team, referred to his letter <br />of February 12, 1988 and requested financial support from the City for the <br />team trip to Denmark and West Germany next August, stating that 16 players, <br />four adults and his young son will make the journey. <br />Kelly Hennessy, Team Manager, described fund raising activities undertaken by <br />the young women to raise money for the team trip. <br />Sabrina Britschgi , Team Captain, mentioned some of the commercial <br />organizations which have provided financial support for the trip. <br />M /S: Stangel /Chandler to contribute $2,500 to the Young Women's AYSO Soccer <br />Team which will represent Redwood City in Denmark and West Germany in August <br />1988. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 88 -29 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />3. Public Hearing - Proposed vacation of Fuller Street <br />between Arguello and Warren Streets (per RESOLUTION <br />NO. 10715, 2/1/88; Report: Community Development <br />Director 1/27/88) (702 -06) <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing and of Posting are on file <br />Report: Community Development Director 3/4/88 <br />In response to question, City Engineer Schroedl described the access which <br />will be availabe to the structures on Fuller Street (see Condition c.) and <br />said that the work is required to be completed within two years. <br />Mayor Claire declared the public hearing open at 7:57 p.m. <br />David Woltering, Martin Carpenter and Associates, San Carlos, representing <br />Whitney Investment Corporation, developer of a two -story medical office <br />building at Brewster and Arguello, referred to overheads of the proposed <br />development and cited benefits to the City from improvement of the property. <br />Beryl Darnell, 3907 Lakemead Way, said he is concerned about removal of <br />spaces on Fuller Street used for jury parking now. <br />City Manager Smith pointed out that jury parking is the responsibility of the <br />County and not the Redwood City taxpayers. <br />Planning Director Patterson observed that the $60,000 payment by the <br />developer is reimbursement to the City for revenue lost by the removal of 23 <br />parking meters and represents funds which can be used toward financing a <br />future parking structure. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />3/7/88 <br />Page 2 MINUTE BOOK NO.47 <br />Page No. 510 <br />
