CATALYfT

EXHIBIT A

26 October 2004 (rev. 14 and 16 December 2004)

Daniel Zack
Redwood City Redevelopment Agency

Re:

Downtown Wayfinding & Connective Elements Project
Proposal for Professional Services

Dear Dan,

Thank you for inviting us to submit a proposal for professional services for what we are calling
the Downtown Wayfinding & Connective Elements Project. This proposal is based on two
meetings we have had with you to discuss a potential scope of work for this project.

Project Purpose, Scope and Context.
The purpose of the project is to provide connective elements to support the overall redevelopment
efforts in downtown Redwood City. These elements are essential to orient pedestrians and first-
time visitors to key destinations, and to promote a more vibrant urban environment. These

elements include:
- select streetscape and pedestrian improvements along key streets and paseos,
including lighting, street trees, pavement enhancements, and potential façade
improvements
- a wayfinding and sign program

The streetscape and pedestrian improvements will be focused on two key areas identified by you:
- Theater Way (Middlefield Road) from Broadway to Veteran's Boulevard
- entries to the city parking lot behind the street-facing buildings along Broadway,
Jefferson, and Main

The wayfinding and sign program will focus on signs for local streets and walkways to guide
visitors to the downtown and identify key locations. The intention is to create a distinctive and
elegant, yet simple, sign program unique to Redwood City and consistent with its urban design
vocabulary. The key elements of the wayfmding and sign program we have identified are:

577 Second Street. Suite 203

San Francisco.
