Fire Loss Statistics - 1986 (1003 -01) <br />Report: Fire Chief 1/12/87 <br />Peter O'Brien, Fire Chief, reviewed his report stating that it is the <br />department's opinion that the continued low fire loss in Redwood City is <br />reflective of their fire prevention efforts. <br />Fire Chief O'Brien responded to questions regarding the success of the smoke <br />detector program; the increase in fire alarms being due to the increase in <br />population; the Cities Class 3 insurance rating, and the status of the new <br />Fire Department headquarters which should be completed by April of this year. <br />He referred to the following on -going programs: Senior Programs, Private <br />Industry Training, Sequoia Hospital Fire Brigade, Mailings with water bills, <br />Stamp Logos, Park and Recreation Fliers, Home Fire Safety, Babysitting <br />Classes, Fire Extinguisher Training, and Learn Not to Burn. <br />Fire Chief O'Brien introduced Louis Vella, the new Fire Marshal, noting that <br />he is one of the few civilian fire marshals in the State. <br />Council commended the Fire Chief and his department on its fine record. <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />At the request of Councilman Britschgi, Item No. 7 was removed from the Consent <br />Calendar for the purpose of discussion. <br />M /S: Bury / Britschgi to waive reading of the Consent Calendar, except the <br />Ordinance title, adopt the ordinance and resolutions and approve all other items, <br />with the exception of Item No. 7. <br />carried unanimously by roll call vote. <br />4.
