Oral Ccmmuni cati ons (continued) <br />The following citizens spoke in favor of putting the petition on the November <br />ball at: <br />Charles Bubni ak, 540 St. Francis Street, Redwood City <br />Judy Buchan, 1126 Allerton Street, Redwood City <br />John Keller, 2017 Vera Avenue, Redwood City <br />Fernando Vega, 321 Spring Street, Redwood City <br />Richard Salter, 2725 1/2 Gracel and, San Carlos <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council that <br />there is adequate time to place the petition on the ballot, if it is <br />approved, and that the Council is not del ayi ng this process and is also <br />desirous of seeing it on the ballot. According to the Election Code, he <br />City Council has nothing to say during this initial process, and has no <br />desire to stall this petition. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilman Bury reported that there was a very successful Seniors Softball <br />tournament on July 4th in Community park, and out of 28 teams, the Redwood <br />City team won the trophy. <br />b. Councilwoman LaBerge would 1 ike the Legislative Committee to consider a non- <br />smoking ordinance for a future agenda. <br />c. Councilwoman LaBerge directed the City Clerk's Office to phone all candidates <br />for city advisory committees to make sure they are notified of time and place <br />for interview sessions. <br />d .
