Item No. 1 (continued) John Lipscomb, architect, 2055 Woodside Road, and a developer of the proposed Eagle House, described the project which will include either the original or a replica of the Victorian -style Eagle House in Eureka with an addition providing some 100 suites, stating that the building will be a theatre - restaurant with hotel, employing local people in the performances as well as in the operation of the establishment. Mr. Lipscomb displayed sketches of the site and the building. In response to questions, Mr. Lipscomb said the project would be expected to open in summer of 1990; that the landscaped area would be open to the public; and that he is associated with a similar project with a 24 -room hotel in Eureka. The following persons spoke in opposition to the development of Eagle House on the proposed site suggesting the commercial use is inappropriate to the adjoining residential area (Peninsula Landing condominiums); that the "nightlife" use can be expected to create problems; that the architecture is inappropriate to Redwood Shores; that traffic will increase; that there may be a legal obligation to use the site for a water - access park; and that the development would have a negative effect on the image of Redwood Shores and reduce residential property values: Robert Slusser, Redwood Shores Homeowners Association (HOA) Peter Nunn, 4096 Cork Harbor Boulevard, Peninsula Landing HOA Thetis Pappas, Seahorse Lane David Jackson, 469E (Peninsula Landing) Bruce Albin, 569 Compass Circle Wayne Wheeler, Peninsula Landing Richard Lemmon, 445B Cork Harbor Circle, Peninsula Landing Jack Denton, 330 Turks Head Lane M. Eisenberg, Peninsula Landing Bruce Munro, 674 Island Place, Shorebird Island Angela Hey, 872 Newport Circle Don Warren, Redwood Shores, Inc., 3 Twin Dolphin Drive, developer of Redwood Shores, said his company took on the obligations of Leslie Properties, Inc. and that Redwood Shores Inc. believes the site should be used for a water - access park of some type. Mr. Warren suggested that some commercial use such as a restaurant or boating facilities may be necessary to support the park, but that his company opposes the Eagle House use. In response to questions, City Attorney Schricker said that the item is a status report to provide information on the proposed project, and Council can give direction to staff concerning it.
