A preferred design concept was selected by
the Council at the joint study session on July 12, 2004.

However, the Council directed the consultant Freedman, Tung & Bottomley (FTB) to
return at a subsequent meeting with further information regarding some of the features
in the preferred design concept selected. Among other questions, the Council wanted
further study of the pavilions and the width of the columns supporting the proposed
structures, as well as further information on the feasibility/viability of an interactive
water feature in the center of the plaza.

Michael Freedman of FTB will be making a presentation at the Joint Study Session and
asking Council for direction on finalizing the preferred design concept so the project
can move forward and be completed.

A contract for the preparation of the construction drawings is currently being prepared,
and will be presented for Council/Agency Board action in the near future.

el Patterson
Community Services
Development Director

-fl
'v

~~~~
Redevelopment
Manager
Redevsharedl2005 StaffReports/O2-2005/Courthouse Square Design
SM/cje
