Administration of ceremonial Oath of Office and presentation of Certificate of <br />Appointment to newly-appointed Council Member Alicia Aguirre <br /> <br />B. Comments by Council Members, newly-appointed Council Member Aguirre and <br />Mayor Ira <br /> <br />Council Member stated that she is honored to be serving as a new member of the <br />City Council. She further stated that she has already met several staff members <br />and that Redwood City is a very professional and wonderful organization. <br /> <br />Council Members commented that Council Member Aguirre is a wonderful <br />addition, that it is an honor to be working with her that 6 lives are breathing <br />easier, that the Council has trust in her judgment, respect for her views, that the <br />community will enjoy what she brings, and that she has vast experience in budget <br />reductions. Applicants for the vacant seat were encouraged to continue to be <br />involved in the community in other ways. <br /> <br />C. Public Comment <br /> <br />Nita Spangler commented on the Channel 27 background noise and reminded <br />Council that Edgewood Park is a San Mateo County preserve. <br /> <br />7:15-7:45 - Reception in honor of Council Member Agui"e <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Rudy Luca stated he has strong feelings about the February 5 Budget Strategy <br />Session. He stated that it was a very informational meeting but expressed <br />disappointment in that there were few citizens present and that the meeting agenda <br />adjourning to the February 5 meeting did not state the time. He further stated that we <br />have a budget crisis and we need to do a better job of informing the community of <br />such meetings. <br /> <br />M/S Hartnett/Bain to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br />by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items.
