Community Development Services 1017 Middlefield Road
Building & Inspection P.O. Box 391
I}it!l Redwood City, California 94064
Telephone: (650) 780-7230 FAX(650) 780-7348

October 30, 2001

Dear Store Owner or Manager,

The current contractor for Redwood City's shopping cart retrieval service program
was no longer able to provide the service at the $3.00 per cart rate. This is due to
increased gasoline and labor costs. Therefore, we put the contract out for bid.
The lowest responsible bidder is Demichele's Cart Service at $3.50 per cart retrieved.
Their references were very good and their bid seems reasonable. Their bid is contingent
on all the current stores staying in the program.
We need to know if your store is going to stay in the program or not. If you are going
to stay in the City program, please sign the enclosed contract and mail it back to us.
If you are opting to initiate your own program, please send us your proposal for
review. Please be advised that there is a $1000.00 fine for not participating in the City
program or not having an approved program. The City is requiring a response, no later
than November 30, 2001, in order to have the new contractor start as soon as possible.
Thank you for all your patience and understanding in helping to keep Redwood City a
more beautiful place to live and shop. If you have any questions, or if I can be of service,
please call me at 780-7354. May this be a successful year for us all.

Sincerely,

Gary Lepori

Oary Lepofi, 780-7354 / Valori¢ Schwarz, 780-7384/Diana Crane, 780-7228/De, an Baxley, 780-5931 / Farris I-Iix, 780-7345
