Rudy Luca stated his opposition to the daycare center, that the neighborhood is <br /> residential and a place of business is not appropriate. <br /> <br /> Nita Spangler states she cannot get to Brewster from Edgewood Road and that <br /> traffic will be affected by the day care center. <br /> <br /> Dave Wolfskill referred to 743 Canyon Road on page 2 of the report. He stated his <br /> willingness to be involved in fixing the error. <br /> <br /> Maria Fernandez stated daycare centers are considered to be more than 18 <br /> children. She stated she has no problem on her street and the amount of revenue <br /> stated is not accurate. She stated she was speaking in defense of the home <br /> childcare providers. <br /> <br /> Bob Baldwin asked what the limit is in terms of size of house and number of <br /> children per residence. <br /> <br /> Kathy Hawsmith stated she represents the applicant's position. She stated the <br /> values from her perspective and the incredible service Ms. Silviera provides. She <br /> does not see the same congestion and traffic problems. She stated Ms. Silviera <br /> encourages her clients to respect the rights of her neighbors. She stated the <br /> provider is acting appropriately; she is gifted, positively influences the children, and <br /> is an exemplary day care provider that the community should be proud of. She <br /> expressed hope that some day the residents will value the children in their midst. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vern Siem stated there are environmental issues at the residence of <br /> discussion. <br /> <br /> M/S Hartnett/Howard to deny the appeal based upon lack of jurisdiction; refund <br /> appellant's filing fee and direct staff to come back with respect to revisions to the <br /> ordinance for consideration by the Council. The motion passed by a unanimous <br /> voice vote by those present with Council Member Ruskin absent. <br /> MINUTE ORDER 02-103 <br /> <br />12.
