REPORT <br /> From th~ City Manager <br /> <br />May 20, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Binding Arbitration with San Mateo County Fire Fighters Local 2400 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The City Council authorize the City Attorney to retain legal and arbitration services with <br />respect to Binding Arbitration with San Mateo County Fire Fighters Local 2400. <br /> <br />Background <br />Management of the City of Redwood City and representatives of Local 2400 have been <br />engaged in meeting and conferring and mediation with respect to entering into a new <br />Memorandum of Understanding. However, issues remain unresolved. Local 2400 has <br />now given notice that they desire to pursue binding arbitration pursuant to Section 96 of the <br />City's Charter. The City Attorney has been engaged in soliciting appropriate representation <br />for the City with respect to the binding arbitration process. <br /> <br />Due to the time constrains involved in having this matter included in the published agenda <br />for May 20, 2002, a final recommendation cannot be included in this report. However, all <br />activities necessary to render a recommendation to the City Council will have taken place <br />prior to the City Council meeting, and a recommendation will be before you at that time. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Funds for representation services with respect to binding arbitration will be made available <br />within the Human Resources budget by way of a budget amendment later this fiscal year. <br /> <br /> Stan Ya mamo/to" Eo~/Ir:vere~t <br /> City Manager <br /> City Att o~,¢y' <br /> <br /> <br />
