Oral Communications (continuedO
Deputy Police Chief Hamilton, said in response to questions about the fatal
accident, that reports are being reviewed by the District Attorney, a
determination as to the cause of the coll ison will be made, and it is not
appropriate to discuss it at this time. He said it is known that the victim
who pulled in front of the truck in his small car had no left side peripheral
vision.
City Attorney Schricker said that the general contractor for construction of
Seaport Boulevard is responsible for safety and that the Director of Public
Works and the person supervising the general contractor should review the
circumstances of the accident independently and provide any needed
engineering solutions. Mr. Schricker also said it is inappropriate to
speculate as to the cause of the accident.
Director of Public Works Addiego said that a professional consultant has been
working on a design for the intersection and his report is due at the next
meeting. (November 24, 1986)
Patrick Reilly, 2001 East Bayshore, employed at Sunol Lumber, suggested
caution signs be placed on the off -ram at Seaport Boulevard. It was
explained that part of the road is not under City jurisdiction.
CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to ask
the Engineering, Police and Park and Recreation Departments to look at the
intersection and the new landscaping and that consideration be given to a
flashing light or stop sign on Seaport and possibly at Harbor Village also.
MEMO 11/14/86
Mert Dilley, Harbor Village, asked why the property owner at Harbor Village
is allowed to use workmen from his shipyard to install the mobilehomes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
1 Councilman Britschgi inquired as to the status of the establishment of an
architectural review board and of the bicycle study.
Acting City Manager Schroeter said that the proposal to recreate an
architectural review board was made to the Planning Commission which has
debated it at five meetings and the matter is pending.
Director of Public Works Addiego said that the consultant for the bicycle
study has made a presentation to the San Mateo County Regional Planning
Commission and is about to refer the study to the Community Development
Department for Planning Commission review.
2. Councilman Britschgi requested that attendance records of members of all
boards, commissions and committees for the past year be provided to Council
for review.
MEMO 11/14/86
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
Reg.Mtg.
11/10/86
Page 3 MINUTE BOOK NO. 46
Page No. 443
