�/ i � 1 � � REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the Cit Mana er March 14, 2005 Subject Purchase of six (6) Police Interceptor Sedans Recommendation By Motion approve the purchase of six (6) police sedans in the amount of $137,064.48 from S&C Ford of San Francisco, California under the cooperative purchasing agreement of the City and County of San Francisco's bid #ITSF05000318. Background Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre-described intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited to, age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and vehicle capabilities. All six (6) of these vehicles are scheduled replacement vehicles for police sedans currently in use in the Police Department. The total number of police sedans in use is thirty-two (32). These six (6) replacement vehicles meet the City's fleet replacement criteria for police sedans. If the City Council approves this purchase, delivery of these new police sedans will take approximately 120-150 days. The ordering cut off date is April 9, 2005. Alternative Council could deny this purchase, however the cost of these patrol vehicles represent a 2.5% decrease in cost compared to last years prices.
