ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (continued) <br />Sharon Tastor, Accounting Specialist, said she also functions as a Deputy City <br />Treasurer, stating that she does not object to management increases, but believes <br />she and other represented employees are deserving of the same increases. Mrs. <br />Tastor suggested that represented employees are partners working with management <br />and are entitled to the same respect and monetary recognition as managers. <br />Art Polawski, Executive Director of San Mateo Council Central Labor Council, 300 <br />8th Avenue, San Mateo, said that an objective survey establishing wage rates has <br />been done and should not be ignored. Mr. Polwaski reported Local 715 has sought <br />and received strike sanction, noting that the City Manager or his representative <br />was invited to a hearing on the subject, but replied no one was able to attend. <br />He asked Council for direction in order to avoid possible strike. <br />Mary Dolezal, Parking Enforcement Deputy, suggested SEIU members have been patient <br />in recent years with regard to lack of City funds and the pending survey, but <br />believes they have been taken for granted and are being denied increases similar <br />to those received by management. Ms. Dolezal suggested salaries are not <br />commensurate with those paid for similar work in neighboring jurisdictions. <br />A Library employee presented a bag of lemons to Council and urged increases be <br />granted to represented employees. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />1.
