ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (continued) Sharon Tastor, Accounting Specialist, said she also functions as a Deputy City Treasurer, stating that she does not object to management increases, but believes she and other represented employees are deserving of the same increases. Mrs. Tastor suggested that represented employees are partners working with management and are entitled to the same respect and monetary recognition as managers. Art Polawski, Executive Director of San Mateo Council Central Labor Council, 300 8th Avenue, San Mateo, said that an objective survey establishing wage rates has been done and should not be ignored. Mr. Polwaski reported Local 715 has sought and received strike sanction, noting that the City Manager or his representative was invited to a hearing on the subject, but replied no one was able to attend. He asked Council for direction in order to avoid possible strike. Mary Dolezal, Parking Enforcement Deputy, suggested SEIU members have been patient in recent years with regard to lack of City funds and the pending survey, but believes they have been taken for granted and are being denied increases similar to those received by management. Ms. Dolezal suggested salaries are not commensurate with those paid for similar work in neighboring jurisdictions. A Library employee presented a bag of lemons to Council and urged increases be granted to represented employees. PUBLIC HEARINGS 1.
