1. Public Hearing - Seaport Boulevard Assessment District <br />(Report of City Manager 1/29/85; RESOLUTION NOS. 9792 <br />through 9799, adopted 2/4/85) (407 -02) <br />Report of City Manager 3/7/85 <br />City Manager Smith referred to the subject report of March 7, 1985, stating <br />that the bid opening date has been extended to March 26 and requested Council <br />ratification. Mr. Smith reported a telephone call today from the federal <br />regional office in Seattle advising that the City's application for an EDA <br />grant for funds to be used in connection with the Seaport Boulevard project <br />will not be granted. He said that the reason given for rejection is that <br />there is not significant unemployment in San Mateo County, and funds for the <br />total EDA program nationwide are very limited. In response to question, Mr. <br />Smith said that he has reported to the County and believes the EDA Committee <br />will continue for future plans. <br />City Clerk Hildebrand reported affidavits and certificates of posting, <br />publishing and mailing are on file. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 7:38 p.m. <br />M /S: Claire /Mosher to ratify extension of the bid opening date for the <br />Seaport Boulevard Assessment District Project from March 5 to March 26, <br />1985. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -30 <br />M /S: Chandler /Stangel to continue the subject public hearing open until <br />April 1, 1985. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -31 <br />1. Peter Si lacci, 1681 Alameda, said that he was not notified that bike lanes <br />are proposed to be installed on the Alameda in response to the concern of the <br />neighborhood group in his area regarding speeding and other traffic problems <br />there. Mr. Silacci said that he is opposed to bike lanes being constructed <br />for the use of outsiders riding through the City, stating his experience with <br />such bicyclists is that they never obey traffic laws or stop at stop signs <br />and are usually rude and inconsiderate. Mr. Si lacci acknowledged he was <br />aware of the neighborhood meetings, but said he could not attend at 6:30 p.m. <br />He urged enforcement of laws relating to length of time recreational vehicles <br />and other vehicles are allowed to park on streets. <br />(1104 -01 re Alameda /Wood side /to Jefferson) <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Reg.
