Amendment to Parks and Recreation Department
regulations
Report of City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation 4/18/85
Director of Parks and Recreation Griffiths commented and replied to questions
by Council regarding restrictions in the ordinance with respect to Hawes
Park, stating that his plan is to move the softball program to Hoover Park
next year; that if alcoholic beverages are allowed in one area of a park, it
is difficult to prohibit them in other parts; that the proposed ordinance
designates certain areas where alcoholic beverages can be consumed; and that
the problems are not with respect to the ball teams.
Discussion followed regarding which parks might be excepted from the
prohibition, and the Council concurred in Mr. Griffiths' recommendation to
make an exception for the following parks: Hawes Park, Hoover School Park,
Marlin Park, Red Morton Community Park and Stulsaft Park.
Reg.
