Item No. 6 (continued) Jon Pierog, 79 Finger Avenue, stated he opposed removal of one segment of the report without public comment. Robert Nixon, 559 Edgewood Road, member of the Edgewood /Whipple Traffic Committee, said that he agreed with the previous speaker that public comment is needed; that the committee had spent many hours working on the study and the State has put Redwood City on notice to either put in signals or put in a median strip at that intersection. He was concerned that a signal would increase traffic on Edgewood Road, which is not designed for heavy traffic volume. Nita Spanqler, 970 Edgewood Road, also a member of the Edgewood /Whipple Traffic Committee, agreed that the subject should be publicly discussed, stated that Edgewood Road does need access for emergency situations, and suggested that a Traffic Committee be established in Redwood City to provide a forum for the public. During the brief discussion which followed, Council noted that no one is foreclosed from discussing the Edgewood /E1 Camino Real alternatives at the time of the public discussion. CONSENSUS: Mayor Britschgi determined it to be the consensus of Council to schedule the public discussion of the Committee Report on the Edgewood Road /E1 Camino Real to Alameda de las Pulgas for July 22, 1985.
