Item No. 3 (continued) <br />In response to questions Housing Coordinator Church said that the $40,000 <br />allocated to Heron Court is a contingency amount in the event that the <br />required improvements to Redwood Shores Parkway cannot be completed for the <br />im $50,000 now available, and that the increase in the amount for the Shared <br />Homes Program is for a new program involving matching renters rather than <br />just a property owner and a renter. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 8:35 p.m. <br />Arthur E. Ratcliffe, 3366 Los Prados, San Mateo, referred to the book <br />entitled "Coordinator's Documentary Handi- Person Program" which he had <br />distributed to Council and reviewed its contents (copy is on file in the City <br />Clerk department). Mr. Ratcliffe asked to be designated to handle the <br />Program instead of TEWCI (Target Education and Welfare Council). <br />Cliff Boxley, Executive Director, TEWCI, stated his organization originated <br />the Handi- Person Program in 1975, and Mr. Ratcliffe was employed in it from <br />January 1981 until September 1983. <br />Discussion followed and Mr. Boxley commented and replied to questions <br />relating to the services being provided; the number of persons benefiting <br />from it; and the kinds and value of services performed. <br />Sally Salinas, Director, Fair Oaks Senior Center, also commented on the <br />conduct of the Handi- Person Program, stating that her agency is reimbursed <br />for work accomplished and does not maintain any fund balance. <br />Pete Hughes, 2501 Spring Street, Chairman, Fair Oaks Community Center <br />Advisory Board, said that the Board unanimously supports the staff <br />recommendations. <br />Mayor Britschgi invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so.
