Investments (continued) <br />City Attorney Schricker described the situation with regard to the bankruptcy <br />of RTD Securities of New York and its possible effect on the City, noting I <br />that recovery is already being pursued and Moses & Singer, attorneys in New <br />York, have been retained to represent the City's interests. Mr. Schricker <br />observed that the City expects to recover 73% of the $527,000 involved. Mr. <br />Schricker also replied to question relating to the chapter under which the <br />bankruptcy was filed and the possible liability of the intermediary broker. <br />1. Public Hearing - Application of Jim E. Keller, Palo <br />Alto Yellow Cab Company for Certificate of Convenience <br />and Necessity to engage in business of operating a taxi <br />service. (1202 -06) <br />Report of City Manager 5/31/84 <br />Affidavit of Publication of Notice of Hearing on file. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the hearing open at 7:55 p.m. <br />Twyla Bonham, 1195 Garden Street, East Palo Alto, owner of Menlo Park Cab., <br />Co., urged Council to deny the subject application, stating she was formerly <br />employed by the applicant. Ms. Bonham stated that an answering service is <br />used by the applicant instead of a 24 -hour dispatcher, resulting in delays in <br />responding to requests for taxi service. _ <br />Assistant to the City Manager Margolis reported that she had talked with the <br />applicant who may not be present because of possible confusion as to whether <br />the public hearing would proceed, since he had experienced problems with his <br />cab inspection. <br />M /S: Mosher /Rhodes to continue the subject public hearing open until the <br />meeting of June 18, 1984, and to so advise Jim E. Keller, the applicant. <br />Attorney Schricker stated that the public hearing need not be readvertised. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote.
