Item No. 3 (continued)
Title read. M /S: Stangel /Mosher
RESOLUTION NO. 9612 APPROVING A FINANCING PLAN FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND
ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN WHARF FACILITIES FOR THE PORT OF REDWOOD CITY (WHARF
NO. 3)
adopted unanimously by roll call vote.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
4. Public Hearing - Proposed Historic Landmark designation
for the following properties: 406 Stambaugh Street
(The Eikerenkotter Residence); 504 Stambaugh Street
(The Muller - Taylor Residence); 1503 Middlefield Road
(The Hartley Residence); and 446 Heller Street (The
Hynding Residence) (202 -05)
Planning Commission record transmitted 5/25/84
Notices mailed to subject property owners.
Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 8:30 p.m.
Ken Rolandelli, 2466 Oregon Avenue, Vice Chairman, Historic Preservation
Committee of Planning Commission, made a slide presentation to describe the
subject properties and the value for Historic Landmark designation.
In response to questions, Mr. Rolandelli stated that if buildings so
designated are remodelled or altered there is a review process to insure that
the architectural integrity is preserved; if it is to be demolished, special
considerations are involved so that the building would not be lost
unnecessarily; that seismic safety is not a consideration; and that the
property owners have all been informed several times and have not replied.
Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, said she has served on numerous historic
preservation organizations and she does not believe any of the proposed
buildings would meet the requirements of the National Historic Trust. Mrs.
Spangler said that some buildings in the City would meet those requirements
and urged the Council to take a leadership role in historic preservation
before all the candidates for it disappear.
Gus Pappas, 587 Seahorse Lane, said there is no reason for concern about the
seismic condition of the homes.
Mayor Britschgi invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. No
one wished to speak.
M /S: Bury /Mosher to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8 :50 p.m.
Reg.Mtg.
7/2/84
Page 4
MINUTE BOOK NO. 45
Page No. 80
