REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and ,?.ity Council <br /> From the C~ty Manager <br /> <br />June 10, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br /> Recycled Water Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Information only - no City Council action required <br /> <br />Background <br />At the request of Vice Mayor Ira, who chairs the City Council Utilities Committee, staff will <br />provide periodic, short status reports to the full Council as the proposed project nears final <br />policy decision points and final approval in September 2002. The attached project Key <br />Milestones /Public Meetings summary delineates the schedule of activities and Council <br />actions as of early June. <br /> <br />At the June 10 Council meeting, staff will focus on the following aspects of the project: <br /> · Status of project financing efforts, including grant and loan applications to the State <br /> of California <br /> · Preliminary findings of the "Greater Bayfront Area" and central Redwood City <br /> market assessment for recycled water use <br /> · Implications of a citywide recycled water connection ordinance and a district-format <br /> dual plumbing ordinance <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Based on Council questions and comments at the conclusion of this agenda item, the <br />Utilities Committee may provide subsequent additional / new direction to staff. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The ultimate cost of this proposed multi-phased project, and the impact to customer utility <br />bills in the future is under study now.
