EPORT the Honorable Ma
To yor and City Council
From the City Manager

June 10, 2002

Subject
Acceptance of Grant of Public Service Easement and Right-of-Way - Steven R.
Humrich Construction - 3154 Oak Knoll Drive - Engineering File No. 801-05

Recommendation
Direct the City Clerk, by motion, to accept on behalf of the City, the Public Service
Easement and Public Street Right-of-Way offered by Steven R. Humrich Construction,
current land owner, pursuant to Resolution No. 10944, adopted December 5, 1988; and
to record a certified copy of the Resolution and the Grant Deed, in the office of the
County Recorder of San Mateo County.

Background
Steven R. Humrich Construction, current owner of Lot 6 Block 27 of Map entitled, "Oak
Knoll Manor", located in Subdivision Map Book 10, Pages 4 to 11, records of San
Mateo County, commonly known as 3154 Oak Knoll Drive, City of Redwood City, are
rebuilding a house on this lot. During the review of the design plans, Staff noticed that
the lot's frontage was not evenly aligned with the adjacent lots, making an unnecessary
and unwanted bottle-neck on the street along the entire frontage of said lot.

Therefore, Staff has requested the land owner dedicate a 10-foot strip of land along the
frontage of the lot to the City for public street (widening) purposes. This 10-foot land
dedication will eliminate the bottle-neck, effectively making the street width uniform
throughout this portion of Oak Knoll Drive. As requested, Steve R. Humrich
Construction has agreed to grant the City this strip of land to serve as a perpetual
easement and right-of-way for public service and public street purposes.

Carl W. Garbe, Consulting Engineer, has prepared and submitted the public service
easement and public right-of-way grant deed. Staff recommends the acceptance of the
grant deed by City Council.

Fiscal Impacts
There are no fiscal impacts to the City by is action.

Phong Du ~o~1 P~tterson
Senior Civil Engineer ~nager, Engineering & Construction City Manager
JP/PD:ss ~1'
s/hbrary/reports/phong/Acceptance_grant of PUE & ROW_3154 Oak Knoll Dr
