M /S: Bury /Claire <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9443 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE FURNISHING OF MISCELLANEOUS <br />CLAMPS; AND AUTHORI2ING EXECUTION OF PURCHASE ORDER AGREEMENT (McGuire & <br />Juvet - $10,986) <br />adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br />------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Mayor Stangel stated that item 12 relating to Veterans <br />Boulevard has been withdrawn by staff. <br />In response to request and there being no objection, Mayor <br />Stangel ordered that items 14.b. and 16 be considered <br />separately before vote on the Consent Calendar is taken. <br />14 b. re HandiPerson Project <br />Arthur Ratcliffe, 159 16th Avenue, San Mateo, reported he is the Handi- <br />person Program Coordinator and has been terminated effective September 30, <br />1983 by letter served by Sally Salinas, Director of the Fair Oaks Senior <br />Center. Mr. Ratcliffe questioned TEWCI's ability to administer the pro- <br />gram after that date and requested Council to delay the proposed appro- <br />priation for one month pending his receipt of response to his request that <br />the Center's Council of Elders conduct an arbitration proceeding with <br />regard to his retaining his position. <br />City Manager Smith and Housing Coordinator Church explained that the <br />proposed funding is on a reimbursement basis, but in any case it is not <br />appropriate for the City to interject itself into the personnel affairs of <br />the Center. <br />16. ORDINANCE establishing Senior Affairs Commission - Vice Mayor Britschgi <br />called attention to his memorandum recommending that the proposed ordi- <br />nance be changed to indicate that prospective appointees to the Commission <br />must be City residents as recently unanimously recommended by the Charter <br />Review Committee for all City boards and commissions. <br />MOTION: Britschgi /Biagi to change the proposed ordinance to require that <br />all appointees to the Senior Affairs Commission be residents and electors <br />of the City at the time of their appointment. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote.
