Mosher <br />Bill Rhodes <br />Joint Meetinq <br />The City Council and the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City met on <br />this date at 7:35 p.m., with Mayor Stangel presiding. <br />Councilmen present: Biagi, Britschgi, Claire, Mosher, Rhodes and Mayor Stangel <br />Councilmen absent: Bury <br />Planninq Commissioners present: Audsley, Balsamo, Beeger, Guida, Poncia, Rowe and <br />Chairman Castle <br />Planninq Commissioners absent: None <br />Officials and staff present: Smith, Schroeter, Tasseff, Maloney, Malkemus, <br />Griffiths, O'Brien, Guardino, Church, Reggetts <br />COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT <br />Mayor Stangel called attention to the Memorandum of October 21, 1983 from <br />Councilman Bury to Council and the Commissioners expressing his views and concerns <br />on several issues. <br />Planning Director Schroeter indicated that as a follow -up to Vice Mayor <br />Britschgi's memorandum to Council of September 1, 1983 regarding the condition of <br />a number of properties within the City, slide pictures were taken of the several <br />locations listed. Vice Mayor Britschgi commented on each slide as they were <br />shown. <br />Discussion followed regarding the vacant Safeway store at Arguello and Brewster; <br />that no demolition permit has been requested; that the owner is apparently unable <br />to find a buyer for the property. With regard to enforcement of existing codes, <br />City Manager Smith advised that it would be necessary to hire several more in- <br />spectors, and further, would affect a large percentage of the housing stock in the <br />City, so action is taken on only the most obvious hazards. <br />Joint Meeting <br />Council /Planning <br />10/25/83 a <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 44 <br />Page No. 260 <br />
