Mosher Bill Rhodes Joint Meetinq The City Council and the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City met on this date at 7:35 p.m., with Mayor Stangel presiding. Councilmen present: Biagi, Britschgi, Claire, Mosher, Rhodes and Mayor Stangel Councilmen absent: Bury Planninq Commissioners present: Audsley, Balsamo, Beeger, Guida, Poncia, Rowe and Chairman Castle Planninq Commissioners absent: None Officials and staff present: Smith, Schroeter, Tasseff, Maloney, Malkemus, Griffiths, O'Brien, Guardino, Church, Reggetts COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT Mayor Stangel called attention to the Memorandum of October 21, 1983 from Councilman Bury to Council and the Commissioners expressing his views and concerns on several issues. Planning Director Schroeter indicated that as a follow -up to Vice Mayor Britschgi's memorandum to Council of September 1, 1983 regarding the condition of a number of properties within the City, slide pictures were taken of the several locations listed. Vice Mayor Britschgi commented on each slide as they were shown. Discussion followed regarding the vacant Safeway store at Arguello and Brewster; that no demolition permit has been requested; that the owner is apparently unable to find a buyer for the property. With regard to enforcement of existing codes, City Manager Smith advised that it would be necessary to hire several more in- spectors, and further, would affect a large percentage of the housing stock in the City, so action is taken on only the most obvious hazards.
