Archives Committee of the Library report and
recommendation re application to place Union
Cemetery on National Register of Historic
Places

Report of City Manager and City Librarian
4/6/82

Mrs. Roy Cloud, Chairman of the Archives
Committee, referred to her letter of April 5,
1982 requesting Council approval of the
application to place Union Cemetery on the
National Register of Historic Places. Mrs.
Cloud described the procedure, stating that
the Committee is now requesting City Council
endorsement, and if it is received, will
forward the application to Sacramento for
approval and then to Washington D.C. The
cemetery is presently listed as California
State Historical Landmark, Number 816.

In response to questions, Mrs. Cloud said
that the entire cemetery is proposed to be
included; that private and federal funds may
become available, if the cemetery is on the
Register; and that organizations such as the
Odd fellows, who founded the cemetery, might
be interested in maintaining it.

Reg .Mtg.
4/12/82

r.U(
,:";5

L/

_..~.__.__.-..__....._-------

-~
