(301) <br />RESOLUTION 14623 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ALLOW THE CITY TO PARTICIPATE IN <br />THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO SAFE HAVEN PROGRAM BY DESIGNATING CITY <br />FIRE STATIONS AS "SAFE HAVEN" SITES FOR THE SURRENDER OF NEWBORN <br />INFANTS PURSUANT TO STATE OF CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE <br />SECTION 1255.7 AND TO EXECUTE ANY AGREEMENTS IMPLEMENTING SAME <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />A. Disposition and Development Agreement (DDA) for First Community Housing's <br />(FCH) proposal for 58 -unit affordable housing project at El Camino & Vera <br />Avenue — City Council and Redevelopment Agency <br />Redevelopment Manager Moeller explained the topic and stated that various <br />staff and outside consultants were available for questions. <br />Council asked questions. <br />Mayor Ira opened the public hearing. <br />Public Comment: <br />Joe LeClaire congratulated Council on its leadership in pursuing the project as <br />exactly the type of housing advocated by People for Housing, Not Highrises. As <br />explained in the staff report it is difficult to build this type of workforce housing <br />due to expense, financial input and staff resources needed. <br />Janet Borgens, Housing and Human Concerns Committee member, stated that <br />to see a project of this value that will accommodate the most vulnerable part of <br />the community in the part of town that is somewhat blighted. She further <br />complimented the Housing Coordinator. <br />M/S Bain/Foust to close the public hearing. The . motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote. <br />1.
