RESOLUTION 14632 RESTATING POLICY REGARDING DEVELOPMENT OF <br />CERTAIN PARCELS OF REAL PROPERTY ON LAUREL WAY IN THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AND REPEALING RESOLUTION 14111 <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br />9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />A. Legislation (information only) - This sub - section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California <br />Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 8 -2005 and 9 -2005. Council may direct staff to <br />act on positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority <br />Focus available in City Clerk's Department). <br />B. Council Member Foust — thanked City Manager Everett for the tour of City Hall <br />to Girl Scout Troop 1779 in an enjoyable, engaging and exciting manner. <br />C. Vice Mayor Pierce — stated that on March 11, the City was visited by Sister City <br />representatives from Zhuhai, China. On behalf of the delegation, she presented <br />to Mayor Ira the Government gift from Zhuhai, a paperweight with the Year of the <br />Rooster stamp. A visit and tour of the Historic Courthouse Museum and Sequoia <br />High School occurred. A discussion of the International Baccalaureate program <br />and the idea of a cultural exchange with students and teachers was a topic of <br />interest during the tour. Vice Mayor Pierce also announced that on Tuesday, <br />March 22 at 5:00 p.m. at Kennedy Middle School, former Secretary of State Dr. <br />George Schultz will be assisting in inducting Dr. Kiron Skinner to the 2005 <br />Kennedy Hall of Fame. If interested in attending, the suggested donation is <br />$25.00 with funds going toward the Kennedy "Fitness for Life" program <br />10. ADJOURNMENT — 8:50 p.m. <br />M/S Hartnett/Howard to adjourn until the next regular City Council meeting of March <br />28, 2005. <br />Council Member Howard requested adjournment in memory of Marie Tiernan, a <br />retired business license collector for the City of Redwood City who died at the age of <br />87 on February 16, 2005. Ms. Tiernan was the first female business license collector <br />for the City and held that position for 16 years upon retirement. <br />Vice Mayor Pierce requested adjournment in memory of Fred Peterson who died on <br />March 5, 2005 at the age of 83.
