<br />MINUTE ORDER <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br />December 13. 2004 <br />MO. 04-232 <br /> <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />December 14, 2004 <br /> <br />Attention: <br /> <br />City Attorney <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Process for filling of City Council Vacancy Created by Ira <br />Ruskin's Election to State Assembly <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: 8.C (209) <br /> <br />Joint City Council and Redevelopment Agency Meeting of December 13, 2004. <br /> <br />Present: Council Member Bain, Foust, Hartnett, Howard, Vice Mayor Pierce and <br />Mayor Ira <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />The following motion was made, carried and entered into the Minutes <br /> <br />M!S Hartnett/Foust City Council determined the process to be used to fill the seat <br />vacated by Ir Ruskin when he was elected last month to the State Assembly. The council <br />will accept letters of intent from members of the community interested in serving, hear <br />presentations by the applicants, and make an appointment by the end of January. The <br />appointee will serve on the Council until the November 2005 general election, at which <br />time the seat will be open for special election to fill the remainder of the unexpired term. <br /> <br />Letters of intent from members of the community should be no more than two pages in <br />length. It's suggested that the letters include the applicant's reasons for desiring to which <br />may be facing Redwood City in the coming years. The letter may be accompanied by a <br />separate personal! professional biography. These letters of intent must be pomarked no <br />later than January 3, 2005. <br /> <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by all those present. <br /> <br /> <br />~.~ <br /> <br />Patricia S.
