Box 391 <br />Redwood City, CA 94064 <br /> <br />Dear Jim: <br /> <br /> The following is the statement of purpose for the <br />expenditure of grant funds pursuant to our agreement with <br />the City. <br /> <br /> The Legal Aid Society provides free legal assistance in <br />civil cases to senior citizens and persons with modest <br />incomes who live in Redwood City and elsewhere in the <br />County of San Mateo who would not otherwise be able to <br />secure legal help. Our Senior Advocates program focuses <br />on the legal problems of the elderly. <br /> <br /> The grant funds will be used to defray staffing and <br />administrative costs and to increase the ability of Senior <br />Advocates to assist elderly residents of Redwood City in <br />such areas as health care, governmental benefits, housing, <br />and consumer disputes. This assistance may include <br />development and presentation of educational programs and <br />materials, investigation of complaints, advice and <br />counseling, and representation in administrative and <br />judicial proceedings, as appropriate. <br /> <br /> ~\~ ~:*.
