Stringer:

As we discussed in our phone conversation th0 other d<:1Y. Golden Gate
Railroad Museum would like to display our steam locomotive #2472 élnd
several vintage railroad cars in Redwood City during the Fourth of July
weekend.

As you know locomotive #2472 is the steam locomotive that was previously on
display êlt the San Mateo County Fairgrounds, The Museum wishes to use the
ocC<:1sion of the holidélY weekend to give the citizens of the ()rea the opportunity
to view and visit the restored locomotive,

We wisll to display the locomotive and cars on the SP track located on Chestnut
Street between Broadway and Veterans Blvd. The site is ideal from a footing
and access point of view. We believe that impact upon neighboring business'
and residences would be minimal at this location over the holiday weekend.
We anticipate that the railroad will deliver the train to the site during the
afternoon or evening of Friday July 2nd. The locomotive will be available for
public display on Saturday and Sunday. We anticipate ttlat the SP will return
the train to San Francisco late Sunday afternoon.

While we have obtained Southern Pacific's permission to occupy the tracks we
would like to request permission from Redwood City to close or block off the
section of Chestnut Street to be occupied by the train. Museum personnel will
on the site 24 hours a day to provide security and crowd control. In addition tile
Museum maintains general liability insurance in the amount of $10 Million.

If you need any further information about our Museum or its activitie~. please do
not hesitate to contact me at the number listed above. Tllank-you for your
consideration of this matter, and I look forward to speaking with you about this in
the near future.

\.

~-
.,/.'j~erelyþ1 rh ð . .. \"
!/ t/~. ~ //(Ur-
Michael J" Mangini; resident ~
Golden Gate Railroad Museum

11998

".",.,.._"'"'"....,_.----"",,.,_..~..,,.
