Library Board (Two three -year terms, expiring June 30, 2008) <br />City Clerk Howe conducted a roll call vote with Council Members naming up <br />to two applicants. The following is the tally of results: <br />• Reina Barragan — Council Members Aguirre, Bain, Foust, Hartnett and <br />Mayor Ira <br />• Sanborn Hodgkins — Council Member Howard <br />• Billy James — Council Members Aguirre, Bain, Foust, Hartnett, Howard, <br />Vice Mayor Pierce and Mayor Ira <br />• Pedro Robles <br />• Ruth Wilkins — Vice Mayor Pierce <br />The successful applicants are Reina Barragan and Billy James; <br />appointed to three -year terms expiring on June 30, 2008. (209) <br />MINUTE ORDER 05 -86 <br />Council Members encouraged all applicants to remain involved and to seek <br />other opportunities to participate, announcing that there is vacancy on the <br />Housing and Human Concerns Committee. The application period for that <br />vacancy ends on May 27 with applications available on the City website and <br />at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall or by calling 780 -7220. <br />B. Council Member Foust — thanked community member Janet Borgens, owner of <br />a beauty salon, "The Beauty Wheel ", conducted a fundraiser along with Mary <br />Mortensen, of "Flirts" The fundraiser involved cutting hair with the proceeds <br />going to a young woman from the community who is suffering from Leukemia. <br />C. Council Member Aguirre — asked if staff would be responding to a citizen's letter <br />regarding a traffic issue. Mayor Ira responded that staff would be sending a <br />detailed letter on the topic. <br />D. Mayor Ira — announced that May 19 is "Bike to Work Day" and he encouraged <br />participation stating that there is a workshop through the County and those <br />interested may go to the website and pledge.
