<br />DES:dft <br /> <br />0/28/93 (004/36) <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />This Council hereby respectfully requests the Board of <br /> <br />Supervisors of the County of San Mateo to establish a vehicle <br />theft program within the County of San Mateo in which the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City shall participate; and, further, requests said Board <br />to adopt a resolution pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 9250.14, <br /> <br />imposing <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />fee <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />one <br /> <br />dollar <br /> <br />($1) <br /> <br />payable <br /> <br />at <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />time <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />registration <br /> <br />or <br /> <br />renewal <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />registration <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />every <br /> <br />vehicle <br /> <br />registered to an address within the County of San Mateo, except <br /> <br />those expressly exempted from payment of registration fees. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />This <br /> <br />Council <br /> <br />hereby <br /> <br />respectfully <br /> <br />recommends <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />establishment of a San t1ateo County Vehicle Theft Committee, and <br /> <br />further recommends <br /> <br />and approves <br /> <br />that <br /> <br />said committee <br /> <br />shall be <br /> <br />comprised of the Sheriff of the County of San Mateo, the District <br />Attorney of said County and three (3) persons from the membership <br /> <br />of the San Mateo County Police Chiefs Association, the duties of <br />which committee shall be to prepare, approve and adopt plans for <br /> <br />a vehicle theft reduction program on a regional basis. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to <br /> <br />transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Board of <br /> <br />Supervisors, County of San Mateo, Sheriff of the County of San <br /> <br />Mateo, the District of the County of San Mateo, and the President <br />of the San Mateo County Police Chiefs Association. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />12085 <br />
