<br />DES:dft <br /> <br />p.'17/93 (012/35) <br /> <br />0 RIG I N A L <br /> <br />9/13/93 <br /> <br />---------- <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />12076 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR <br />WATER QUALITY MONITORING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Water Supply Contract dated August 8, <br />1984, by and between the City and County of San Francisco ("San <br /> <br />Francisco") <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Redwood <br /> <br />City, <br /> <br />which <br /> <br />contract <br /> <br />incorporates <br /> <br />by <br /> <br />reference <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />terms <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />conditions <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />that <br /> <br />certain "Settlement Agreement and Master Water Supply Contract" <br /> <br />(the <br /> <br />"Master <br /> <br />Agreement") <br /> <br />between <br /> <br />San <br /> <br />Francisco <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />certain <br /> <br />suburban water purchasers, this City obtains its potable water <br /> <br />supply from the Hetch Hetchy Water System; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, continuous monitoring of the residual disinfectant <br /> <br />concentration in water entering the distribution system has been <br /> <br />established as a criteria under federal surface water treatment <br /> <br />regulations <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />means <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />complying <br /> <br />with <br /> <br />water <br /> <br />filtration <br /> <br />avoidance criteria; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an agreement has been presented to, and reviewed <br /> <br />by, this Council by and between San Francisco and the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City pursuant <br /> <br />to which personnel <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />this <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />shall <br /> <br />provide monitoring <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />data <br /> <br />collection <br /> <br />services <br /> <br />in <br /> <br />order <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />satisfy the California Department of Health Services and United <br /> <br />States <br /> <br />Environmental <br /> <br />Protection Agency <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />compliance with <br /> <br />filtration avoidance criteria; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the costs of performing such monitoring and data <br /> <br />collection <br /> <br />shall, <br /> <br />pursuant <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />said <br /> <br />agreement, <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />considered <br /> <br />"wholesale <br /> <br />system <br /> <br />expenses <br /> <br />purification" <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />allocated <br />
