3

,
To the Hvnorable Mayor and City auncil
ram the City Manage
January 10, 2000
Subject
Acceptance of Deed for a Miscellaneous Parcel from Redwood Shores Properties
Engineering File No. 801-05
Recommendation
Accept the grant deed for a miscellaneous parcel from Redwood Shores Properties, and
direct the City Clerk to accept on behalf of the City, said deed, and to record a certified
copy of the Resolution and Minute Order in the Office of the San Mateo County
Recorder. .
Background
The master developer's engineers, Bohley/Maley & Associates, and their legal counsel,
Dudnick, Ditwiler, Rivin & Stikker, LLP. have prepared the legal documents for the deed
to the City of Redwood City. The deed has been reviewed by the City's Engineering
and Construction Services, and it is ready for City Council action.
The parcel is a strip of land that runs between the lagoon and the G-2 discharge facility.
This land forms the banks of the G-2 channel. It is located adjacent to Radio Road and
across the street from the Irvine Apartment Development. It is sandwiched between
Radio Road and the open space belonging to State Lands. The parcel has no potential
for development. Redwood Shores Properties no longer holds significant interest on the
Peninsula, and will have no personnel present. It will be difficult to force the owner to
provide proper maintenance.
This parcel of land will also satisfy a mitigation requirement stipulated by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board for the Redwood Shores Levee Rehabilitation Project. It
will be developed into seasonal wetland in accordance with the RWQCB permit.
Therefore, accepting title to this parcel will allow the City to satisfy the permit condition
and properly maintain the parcel as wetland.
Fiscal Impacts
The fiscal impact to the City is the maintenance costs, which have been incorporated
into the staffing needs and work program.
_ ; /
Q ` /
S.
