<br />jF I <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />January 31, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Revocable Permit for Use of Herkner Pool by Sequoia High School Swim Team <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that City Council adopt the resolution authorizing the execution of a <br />revocable permit with the Sequoia High School District for use of Herkner Pool. <br /> <br />Background <br />Sequoia High School has approached staff regarding the use of Herkner Pool for their <br />Swim Team. The pool at Sequoia has been removed and they are constructing a new <br />pool. Use dates would start on February 7th and run until May 12, 2000, Monday <br />through Friday, from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. The revocable permit requires Sequoia High <br />School to reimburse the City for the utility costs to heat the pool and the pool building <br />and for water quality supplies, as well as to pay for any maintenance staff overtime. <br />Further, the agreement requires Sequoia High School to provide coaches and the <br />insurance necessary to protect the City from liability. <br /> <br />- ,'" ~j " <br /> <br />Discussion <br />The approval of this request will enable their swim program to continue and will <br />contribute further to the good working relationship between the City of Redwood City <br />and the Sequoia High School District. This request would not conflict with any City <br />programs. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Not approve the agreement. Sequoia High School would have to find another location, <br />and if one is not found, would impact the swim team. <br /> <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The City would recover the hard costs from Sequoia for use of Herkner Pool.
