<br />~B \ <br /> <br />REPCJ'RT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />February 14, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Speed Hump Installation 1998-99 <br />Engineering File No. 806-04 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the Speed Hump Installation 1998-99 Project, and authorize the release of <br />bonds. <br /> <br />Background <br />On August 31, 1998, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the Speed <br />Hump Installation 1998-99 Project to Royal Seal Asphalt Maintenance Co., Inc. of <br />Fremont, California, for the amount of $31,150.00. <br /> <br />The purpose of this project was to construct an estimated quantity of 31 asphalt <br />concrete speed humps during the 1998-99 fiscal year, at locations approved by the City <br />Council, including the 13 speed humps at the authorized locations in the Redwood <br />Oaks Neighborhood, approved on April 27, 1998. <br /> <br />In addition to the 13 speed humps constructed in the Redwood Oaks Neighborhood, <br />this project completed: <br /> <br />1. Two speed humps on Central Avenue and two speed humps on Orchard Avenue <br />in the Redwood Oaks Neighborhood approved on September 13, 1999. <br /> <br />2. Six speed humps on Hoover Street and six speed humps on Page Street in the <br />Friendly Acres Neighborhood approved on September 13, 1999. <br /> <br />3. Four speed humps on Edgewood Road approved on November 22, 1999. <br /> <br />The Contractor successfully completed the installation of a total of 33 speed humps in <br />accordance with the details and specifications. A contract change order in the amount <br />of $2,360.00 was issued to pay for the two additional speed humps, over the estimated <br />quantity. Including the contract change order, the total cost of the project was <br />$33,510.00. <br /> <br />'~-"'-"'--'T <br />
