<br />3l\-1 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.21.1 (c) OF ORDINANCE NO. <br />1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE RELATING TO <br />FAMILY DAY CARE HOMES <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOllOWS: <br /> <br />1. Section 1. Section 2.21.1 (c) is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"c. <br /> <br />Family Day Care Home. A home which regularly provides care, <br />protection, and supervision of 12 or fewer children, in the provider's own <br />home, for periods of less than 24 hours per day, while the parents or <br />guardians are absent. Family Day Care Homes may either be located in a <br />detached single family residence or in a multi-family unit. Family Day <br />Care Homes shall include the following defined terms: <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />(1) "Small Family Day Care Home" means a home which provides family <br />day care for 6 or fewer children, including children under the age of <br />10 years who reside at the home and a home which provides care <br />for more than 6 and up to and including 8 children subject to the <br />requirements of Section 1597.44 of the Health & Safety Code. The <br />use of a residence as a small family day care home shall be <br />considered a residential use of property for the purposes of this <br />ordinance and shall be permitted in any Zoning District. <br /> <br />(2) "Large Family Day Care Home" means a home which provides family <br />day care for 7 to 12 children, inclusive, including children under the <br />age of 10 years who reside at the home and a home which <br />provides care for more than 12 children and up to and including 14 <br />children subject to the requirements of Section 1597.465 of the <br />Health & Safety Code. Large Family Day Care Homes shall be <br />permitted in any Zoning District provided that the use complies with <br />all of the following conditions: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />The facility is the principal residence of the provider and the <br />use is clearly incidental and secondary to the use of the <br />property for residential purposes. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />No structural changes are proposed which will alter the <br />character of the single family or multi-family residence. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Provisions have been made to provide, as a minimum, one <br />1 <br /> <br />Ord-101a <br />f/sh/sh/RC/Council <br />FXS:rg;fs <br />02/08/0 <br />02/09/00 <br /> <br />.-..., .-...1It <br />
