HONORABLE <br />MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />FROM THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />April 10, 2000 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Peninsula Celebration Association's Fourth of July Celebration, 2000. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The Council authorize execution of a letter permit for the Fourth of July celebration sponsored by the <br />Peninsula Celebration Association. <br /> <br />Summary <br />The Peninsula Celebration Association has requested permission to conduct the annual Fourth of <br />July celebration. The traditional parade, arts and crafts fair and festival will be held on Tuesday, <br />July 4, 2000, in the downtown area of Redwood City. A fireworks display will be held during the <br />evening at the Port of Redwood City. <br /> <br />The parade staging area will be reserved from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the parade route will be <br />reserved from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The arts and crafts fair and festival will be conducted from <br />9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The fireworks display will be conducted from 9:30 p.m. until 1 0:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The parade will be conducted in the areas shown on the attached map, on the letter dated January <br />20'02000. The fair and festival will be conducted on Broadway between Main and Winslow Streets, <br />and Hamilton and Middlefielc:j Streets and Jefferson Avenue between Winslow/Middlefield and <br />Marshall Street. In conjunction with the fireworks display and in agreement with the affected <br />propertY owners, Chesapeake Drive shall be closed at Seaport Boulevard on July 4,2000, from 8:00 <br />a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Seaport Court will be closed on July 4,2000, at 7:00 p.m., or when parking <br />capacity has been reached, whichever occurs first. <br /> <br />Specifically, the City agrees to provide services which include street sweepers; barricade and <br />bleacher delivery; installation of flags along the parade route; use of a 1-1/2 inch fire hydrant for an <br />antique fire truck demonstration; use of the parking structure on Marshall Street and use of the <br />Hamilton Street parking lot along Winslow Street for handicap and vendor parking; closure of <br />Hamilton Street from Broadway to the entrance of the Hamilton Street parking lot from 6:00 p.m. on <br />Sunday, July 2, to 8:00 p:m. on Tuesday, July 4, and posting of "No Parking" signs along the parade <br />route. <br /> <br /> <br />Chris Cesena <br />Administrative Sergeant <br /> <br />ntains the standard hold harmless, insurance, and co <br /> <br />~L#.tL <br /> <br />Carlos G.
