<br />~A.q <br /> <br />Jan Prette stated the levees are enjoyed by the residents and people should be encouraged <br />to exercise. - <br /> <br />Council comments included the City having not fought hard enough in 1997, that indeed <br />the proposal was a reasonable compromise, that pursuance of a new biological report may <br />be in order and that there are no more negotiating tools. <br /> <br />MIS Claire/Hartnett to extend the meeting to 11:15 p.m. The motion passed by a majority <br />vote with Council Member Jordan voting no. <br /> <br />MIS Hartnett/Howard to close the gates, continue to seek extension of the permits, pursue <br />land exchange, develop a revised proposal for U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and develop a <br />strategy to pursue administrative remedies. The motion failed: Ayes: Jim Hartnett, Dick <br />Claire, and Ira Ruskin. Noes: Colleen Jordan, Diane Howard, Barbara Pierce and Jeff Ira. <br /> <br />MIS Hartnett/Claire to close the gates, continue to seek extension of the pennits so as to <br />complete the improvement of the levees, develop a revised proposal for U.S. Fish and <br />Wildlife, and develop a strategy to pursue administrative remedies. The motion passed by <br />the following vote: Ayes: Council Members Hartnett, Howard, Pierce, Vice Mayor Claire <br />and Mayor Ruskin. Noes: Council Members Jordan and Ira.
