...\ REPORT To the Redevelopment Agency June 12, 2000 Subject Initiation of Eminent Domain Proceedings Property Owners: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hudson Assessors Parcel No's. 053-175-020 and 053-175-030 Recommendation It is recommended that the Redevelopment Agency initiate eminent domain proceedings to acquire a parcel of property owned by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hudson by adopting the attached Eminent Domain Resolution for redevelopment in the Franklin Street Project Area pursuant to the Redwood City Redevelopment Project No.2. The property is identified on the exhibits attached to the Resolution of Necessity. The Resolution of Necessity requires a two-thirds vote of the Agency Board for passage. Background The property is located at 117-119 Maple Street and 135 Maple Street, Redwood City It is necessary that this parcel be acquired by the Agency in furtherance of the redevelopment of the area. The proposed project by developer Irvine Apartment Communities, L. P. ("lAC") is for the purposes of Redevelopment, to include development of residential units together with retail space and related improvements Le. parking, landscaping and roadway and utility infrastructure located on or necessary to serve the lAC site. The public use and necessity for the project has been established by the approved Redevelopment Plan, adopted by Ordinance No. 1862 (amended by Ordinance(s) 1911,2007 and 2085) and the Redevelopment Project designated Franklin Street Project Site. Redevelopment is an established public use under the law. The proposed project will serve to additionally redevelop and improve the downtown area in furtherance of the Redevelopment Plan and the Project's goals of the clearance and elimination of blight. (Copies of the Redevelopment Plan and all amendment thereto, including all reports, studies and environmental documents are available for review at the City Clerk's office and are incorporated into the administrative record herein).
