If <br />you wish to address the Council, please complete a speaker's card (next to agendas) and give it <br />to Council Volunteer Art Balsamo (seated to the left of the Council Members.) If your subject <br />is not on the agenda, the Mayor will recognize you at this time; but the Brown Act (Open <br />meeting Law) does not allow action by Council at this time. If you wish to speak to a subject <br />listed on the agenda, you will be recognized by the Mayor at the appropriate time your item of <br />interest is being considered by Council. <br /> <br />7. PUBLIC HEARING - <br /> <br />A. Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance; <br /> <br />Staff contact: Tom Passanisi, Principal Planner 780-7237 tpassanisi@}redwoodcity.org <br /> <br />1. Staff report; <br />2. Open public hearing; <br />3. Hear public comment; <br />4. Close public hearing; <br />5. Council discussion; <br />6. Council Action: <br /> <br />Recommendation: Review and discuss alternative regulations governing <br />accessory dwelling units. Direct staff to prepare Resolution Initiating Proceedings <br />to amend the Zoning Ordinance to correspond to Council's determination. Staff <br />recommends the following changes: <br />. Require the property owner to live on the property, either in the main or <br />second unit. <br />. Provide for an exception for undue hardship to be granted for a limited term <br />by the Zoning Administrator with regard to owner occupancy. <br />. Allow the unit size to be 640 sq. ft., 750 sq. ft., or 850 sq. ft., depending on lot <br />SIze. <br />. Establish a non-discretionary permit process with public notification of the <br />accessory unit's approval. <br />. Require one additional parking space for the second unit. The parking may be <br />in the required 20-ft. front yard garage setback, uncovered, and can be tandem <br />on the driveway apron. <br />.
